Dental Equipment Repair and Maintenance Technicians install, inspect, repair, and maintain dental equipment. They troubleshoot systems including dental chairs, compressors, sterilizers, suction systems, and handpieces. They ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and meets industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, set up, and ensure proper functioning of dental equipment, including dental chairs, delivery systems, X-ray/imaging units, sterilizers, autoclaves, air compressors, suction systems, handpieces, and ultrasonic scalers.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
- Repair or replace defective components and parts.
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Maintain service records, maintenance logs, and repair reports.
- Respond to emergency service calls and equipment breakdowns.
- Follow infection control, safety, and radiation protection standards.
- Coordinate with dental staff and manufacturers regarding technical support and warranty issues.
- Order and manage spare parts and repair tools.
- Train clinic staff on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technician, Mechanical/Electrical Technology or Dental Equipment Technology.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical troubleshooting, pneumatics and hydraulics, diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Travel to clinics required.
- A valid driver's license
