POSITION SUMMARY
The Pastry Chef is responsible for executing the pastry and baking operations within the culinary department. This role oversees the preparation and presentation of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and specialty baked goods while ensuring consistency, creativity, and exceptional guest experiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and oversee the production of pastries, desserts, breads, cakes, and specialty baked goods.
Ensure all pastry items meet established quality, presentation, and consistency standards.
Maintain high standards of creativity and innovation in dessert offerings.
Execute pastry production for restaurants, banquets, catering events, and seasonal programming.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to design seasonal dessert menus and specialty offerings.
Develop creative dessert concepts aligned with the property’s brand and culinary vision.
Test and refine recipes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and cost control.
Coordinate pastry production timelines for events and high-volume service periods.
Assist with special culinary events, tastings, and seasonal programming.
Support overall kitchen operations when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal culinary or pastry training preferred.
3–5 years of pastry experience in a hotel, resort, restaurant, or bakery environment.
Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, chocolate work, and dessert presentation.
Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
Strong attention to detail and creativity.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF POSITION (include but are not limited to):
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs.
Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a hospitality environment.
