ABOUT THE POSITION
Please note that Nahanni Construction’s Head Office is located in Yellowknife, NWT. The location for this job ad applies to various remote construction sites across Northern Canada.
Nahanni Construction Ltd. is accepting resumes for Concrete Finishers to work at our various project sites. The successful candidates will work on a rotational schedule in a remote work camp environment.
SCOPE
- Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor for concrete projects.
- Clean and prepare job sites, dig trenches, set braces to support form work.
- Understand and execute concrete procedures to meet with specifications of the project.
- Setting forms that hold concrete in place.
- Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float and screed.
- Ensure poured concrete is laid and finished to the highest standard. Operate equipment as needed.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings.
- Advise supervision of unsafe conditions or acts that may be a hazard or danger to oneself and other workers.
- Report all incidents/accidents including “near misses”
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Ability to learn quickly and keep up with tight schedule
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Able to complete physically demanding work with significant periods of standing and kneeling.
- Experience is preferred but willing to train motivated individuals with good work ethic and positive attitude.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Nahanni is an open-shop Contractor that provides competitive pay and benefits. Compensation is dependent on experience. Nahanni pays for and books travel to and from the project site. In addition, employees are entitled to a rotational travel allowance.
