Our pharmacy is currently growing in providing services for residents staying at group homes and retirement homes. We are providing exceptional level of service to our patients, together with advanced clinical services. We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills who is able to work independently.
The Pharmacy Assistant plays a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional patient care and customer service by working collaboratively with internal team members and external healthcare professionals. The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for accurately processing prescriptions, as well as all administrative duties related to the scheduling and dispensing of medication.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Greeting clients and providing superior customer service
* Accepting, entering, processing and filling prescriptions accurately and efficiently through dispensing software (Kroll)
* Dealing with patients, healthcare professionals, third party insurances, and other staff members to ensure appropriate adjudication and processing of prescriptions
* Creating delivery labels and packaging medication for delivery when required
* Preparing and checking blister pack as permissible to be dispensed
* Assisting in inventory management by properly ordering, receiving and storing medications and other products
* Processing payments and reconciling owed balances when applicable
* Assisting the pharmacist and other pharmacy staff member with any patient-related matters
* Answering telephone calls and emails to appropriately triage patient and healthcare professional inquiries, and escalate to the pharmacist as appropriate
* Accurately preparing pharmaceutical compounds
* Performing other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
* At least two (2) years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within Ontario
* At least two (2) years of experience working proficiency with Kroll Pharmacy Dispensing Software
* Experience in dealing with Long term care facilities
* English fluency (both verbal and written) is mandatory
* Excellent knowledge of Trillium, third party Insurance plans, special authorizations, and EAP’s
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong basic computer skills
* Excellent phone etiquette
* Must be extremely punctual
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
