The Director of Care is a Senior Leadership role that is responsible for management of all Wellness Services to our Residents. S/he ensures the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the overall operation of the Care Services in accordance with current regional and provincial health service standards, guidelines, regulations and legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or an equivalent program from a recognized educational institution. Valid registration with the Registered Nurses’ Association or equivalent registration in provincial professional regulatory organization.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role with demonstrated excellence in management, leadership, budgetary responsibilities, clinical judgement and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledgeable about current nursing and medical practices and Alberta Licensing and Provincial Legislation and standards as they relate to Long Term Care and Supportive Living environments.
- Leads members of the Care Team in identifying resident’s goals and health care needs; monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of individual Care Plans; and guides Care Team members in the identification of changing care needs;
- Knowledgeable in Gerontology and working with seniors.
- Excellent proficiency with MS Office, email, internet use, and computerized documentation.
- Provides leadership and direction for the care team responsible for the provision of continuing care services by fostering and promoting new initiatives, interpreting and implementing care related policies and procedures, scheduling and assigning work, monitoring and evaluating performance and recruiting, developing and/or terminating employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, maturely and with integrity when working with residents, staff, families and community contacts.
