The Boardslitter Operator is responsible to operate the Boardslitter Small Equipment and Wohlenberg Cutter to trim board to predetermined sizes as per the job instructions.
The successful candidate will work on the 12-hour day shift pattern, 6 AM to 6 PM.

Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED/Mature Student Diploma
- Experience operating and using small tools
- Effective English use and comprehension
- Digital Literacy (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills)
- Essential Math skills (Metric and Imperial measurements, problem solving, conversion charts, etc.)
- Effective use of production related documents to accomplish job tasks
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities in product
- Demonstrated organization, prioritizing, time and stress management skills
- Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Continuous learning/improvement mindset
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-management capabilities

- Must be willing to work at all Friesens facilities and cost centers as needed
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work and communicate effectively with the Managers, Specialty Coordinator and co-workers
- Carry out jobs according to the schedule or as directed by the Production Manager
- Operate the board slitter/cutter for quality, efficiency and productivity:
- Order board and move it to the board slitter
- Follow instructions on the e-docket and other sources to program the board slitter and cutter as required for the job
- Cut samples and confirm accuracy, making adjustments if required
- Cut the board for the job
- Stack board neatly on skids
- Identify finished lift with accurate counts
- Update PSR and issue board
- Perform board slitter and cutter maintenance as required as per the Operator’s Manual
- Locating and moving production components as directed
- Assist with production department maintenance and housekeeping
- Practice Friesens safety procedures for equipment and plant situations
