Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage and coordinate the financial operations of Premier Auctions. This role is responsible for overseeing financial transactions, managing contractor related financials, processing employee payroll, ensuring compliance with tax and reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with the General Manager and external accountants to maintain accurate financial records, support GST filings and prepare for year end reporting. While this position includes remote work, regular visits to yard locations and offsite sales are required to support financial processes and collaborate with operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Track, reconcile and report on all financial transactions across auctions, inventory and sales.
- Perform bank, credit card and account reconciliations; identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor cash flow, aging reports, payables/receivables timelines and expense patterns.
- Oversee financial records related to contractor activities and expenses.
- Manage payroll processing for all employees, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Administer and oversee staff benefits, including enrollments, updates and employee inquiries.
- Collaborate with external accountants to ensure accurate and timely GST filings and tax preparation.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare regular reporting for management review.
- Support financial audits and internal reviews as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5+ years of progressive experience in bookkeeping, accounting or finance.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations and internal controls.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, payroll systems and tax regulations (especially GST).
- Experience with employee benefits administration.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks or comparable platforms) and Google Sheets.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Willingness for required travel to yard/offsite locations.
