The Role
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and producing quality parts using various CNC manufacturing equipment. Working from company plans, blueprints, work orders, and part specifications, you will ensure the accurate production of components while maintaining a safe, high-performing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, sheet lasers, tube lasers, and panel bending equipment.
- Setup Verification: Load raw materials and verify proper machine setup prior to starting production runs.
- Program Execution: Select, load, and run CNC programs according to daily production requirements.
- Quality & Monitoring: Monitor machine operations, making routine adjustments to maintain productivity and part quality.
- Precision Inspection: Inspect finished parts using measuring tools and gauges to verify compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Troubleshooting: Perform basic troubleshooting and report any equipment, tooling, or quality issues immediately.
- Documentation: Complete production documentation and quality records accurately, following all safety procedures.
- Maintenance: Perform routine equipment maintenance and upkeep tasks.
Qualifications
- Experience: Comfortable working with common shop tools, including hand/power tools, grinders, deburring tools, and lifting equipment.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and part specifications.
- Tooling Knowledge: Ability to read a tape measure is an asset; experience using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools is preferred.
- Core Skills: Basic math skills and a strong attention to detail to identify defects or inconsistencies.
- Education: Post-Secondary education in CNC or CAD/CAM related fields is not required but considered an asset.
Pay & Benefits
- Base Hourly Pay: $28.00/hour
- LOA available for travellers
- Perk: Travel accommodations are available for this position.
