As part of our growing K9 Division, we are seeking a dedicated and professional K9 Protection & Detection Handler to join our team and contribute to Aerolink’s mission of excellence in security operations.
Position Summary
The K9 Protection & Detection Handler will work alongside a trained canine partner to conduct screening, detection, and protection services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining operational proficiency, upholding safety standards, and ensuring the well-being and effectiveness of their assigned canine.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform K9 protection and detection screening services across client sites.
- Maintain K9 and handler proficiency through ongoing training, fieldwork, and certification.
- Accurately document and analyze K9 training, deployment, and performance records.
- Provide after-hours care and a safe home environment for the assigned canine.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Assist in training initiatives and support continuous K9 education.
- Maintain all required security licenses, clearances, and certifications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid British Columbia Security License (or ability to obtain one).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain enhanced security clearances.
- Reliable, climate-controlled vehicle capable of safely transporting a K9 and crate.
- Strong communication, observation, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of canine handling, care, and husbandry.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a K9 Handler, in law enforcement, military, or private security.
- Certification or experience in explosive or narcotic detection (asset).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working in mobile or field security operations.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work will include outdoor environments and various weather conditions.
- Must be physically fit and able to perform duties such as standing, walking, running, lifting, and handling dogs.
- Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to handle stressful or emergency situations calmly and professionally.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
