Ossa Terra Ltd. is an earthworks company based in Lethbridge, Alberta.
We are seeking a Surveyor / Junior Estimator / Project Support to take on a multi-faceted role supporting survey, estimating, and project coordination functions within our civil and earthmoving operations.
This hands-on role is suited to someone with practical field survey experience who is looking to expand their career. This position involves a mix of office and field responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Survey & Field Support (Core Function)
- Set up and localize job sites from control files or coordinate lists
- Perform layout for grades, utilities, and control points
- Grade checking and verification of elevations and alignments
- Work directly with operators to achieve required depths and final surfaces
- Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
- Prepare and manage survey data (including AutoCAD/Civil 3D)
- Conduct topographical surveys and quantity measurements
- Maintain and care for survey equipment, including minor troubleshooting
- Communicate with site personnel and clients as required
Estimating (Earthworks Focus)
- Assist in identifying and evaluating project opportunities
- Obtain and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Review quotes, terms, and conditions
- Support quantity takeoffs and production-based estimating
- Research haul distances, material sources, and production rates
- Assist with tender preparation, submissions, and prequalification requirements
- Support internal coordination and communication during bid preparation
Project Support (Supporting Role)
- Assist with document control and project documentation
- Support scheduling, progress tracking, and cost monitoring
- Assist with contract and change order documentation
- Support procurement, submittals, and progress tracking
- Participate in internal and external project meetings
- Maintain communication with project teams, consultants, and clients
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, or related field
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in earthworks or civil construction
- Experience with Topcon, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Working knowledge of grading, excavation, and site development practices with exposure to surveying and grade control.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and overtime if required
- Comfortable working in both office and field settings
- Valid driver’s license
