Shel-Bar Electronic Industries Ltd. is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Electrician or motivated 3rd or 4th Year Registered Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team.
We provide commercial electrical and integrated security solutions across Canada. Our work includes commercial buildings, municipalities, utilities, water and wastewater facilities, critical infrastructure, and other complex commercial environments.
Unlike a traditional electrical contractor, our electricians are involved in both commercial electrical work and integrated security projects. We are looking for electricians who take pride in their trade and are interested in either bringing existing low-voltage experience or developing new skills in integrated security technologies, including fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and related systems.
We're looking for professionals who take pride in quality workmanship, communicate effectively, pay attention to detail, and represent themselves and their employer with professionalism.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will perform commercial electrical installations, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning while participating in integrated security projects as project requirements dictate.
Depending on project assignments, work may include commercial electrical installations together with the installation, testing, commissioning, and service of fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and supporting low-voltage infrastructure.
Previous experience with integrated security systems is considered an asset; however, electricians with a strong commercial electrical background, a willingness to learn, and an interest in expanding their technical skill set are encouraged to apply.
For candidates interested in travel, this position also offers opportunities to participate in projects throughout Canada while working on technically diverse installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform commercial electrical installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and commissioning.
- Install conduit, cable tray, wire, devices, panels, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and commission fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and supporting low-voltage systems as required.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, and construction documents.
- Complete preventative maintenance and service work.
- Maintain accurate daily journals, service reports, deficiency reports, commissioning documentation, and project records.
- Coordinate work with Project Managers, customers, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional installations.
- Follow Company Health & Safety requirements and client-specific safety procedures.
- Travel throughout Canada as required.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyperson Electrician or Registered 3rd or 4th Year Electrical Apprentice.
- Commercial electrical installation experience.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with, or a genuine interest in learning, integrated security systems including fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and supporting low-voltage infrastructure.
- Excellent English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills. This position requires the ability to accurately complete daily journals, service reports, commissioning documentation, deficiency reports, and other written project records while communicating professionally with customers, coworkers, and other trades.

- Willingness to travel throughout Canada.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Acceptable driver's abstract.
