Job Title: Teacher (Private Micro-Academy)
Location: Woodstock, Ontario
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract (September to June)
Schedule: Monday to Thursday | 6 hours/day
Compensation: Competitive daily rate; includes 10 paid prep days
Position Overview:
On behalf of a private company, we are recruiting a passionate and creative educator to lead a small group of students in a unique micro-academy setting. This is a fixed-term teaching opportunity ideal for an experienced educator who thrives in flexible, student-centered environments and is excited by hands-on, nature-inspired learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction across multiple grade levels in core subjects (e.g., literacy, numeracy, science) and enrichment areas
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to a small, mixed-age group
- Incorporate farm-based learning, character education, and outdoor exploration into the curriculum
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with families
- Collaborate with an educational assistant and contribute to the overall success of the learning community
- Participate in professional planning and use paid prep days effectively
Qualifications:
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
- Experience with multi-age classrooms, alternative education, or outdoor/farm-based learning is an asset
- Strong classroom management, planning, and communication skills
- Adaptable, creative, and enthusiastic about innovative approaches to education
Key Details:
- The academy operates 4 days per week (Monday–Thursday)
- Total work time: 8 hours/day, with a consistent weekly rhythm
- Scheduled unpaid breaks include winter holidays, March Break, and summer months
- Staff receive 10 paid prep days (to be used at their discretion, ideally over the summer)
- The position is located on a farm-based campus with access to outdoor learning spaces and animals
