Overview
Express is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Stair Builder to join our reputable client in North Calgary. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of residential, commercial, and custom stair systems. This role requires strong carpentry skills, the ability to read technical drawings, and a commitment to producing high-quality craftsmanship while maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, and install wood, metal, or mixed-material stair systems according to specifications and building codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project plans.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble stair components with precision.
- Install stair treads, risers, stringers, handrails, guardrails, and related components.
- Operate woodworking and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
- Troubleshoot installation challenges and make necessary adjustments in the field.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, shop, and job site.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Stair Builder, Finish Carpenter, Carpenter, or related trade.
- Strong knowledge of stair construction methods and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
- Strong mathematical and measuring skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various construction environments.
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools for extended periods.
- Ability to work at heights and on construction sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience with custom residential stair construction.
- Familiarity with CNC equipment and modern stair manufacturing processes.
- Experience installing railings, handrails, and finishing trim work.
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
