Position Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Fleet Manager

Position Summary
The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment and commercial vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, haul trucks, tractors, gravel trucks and service trucks
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, braking systems, and drivetrains
- Complete service records, inspections, and maintenance documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and company policies
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Respond to equipment breakdowns in the field as required
- Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams
Qualifications & Experience
- Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (or equivalent) preferred
- Minimum [X] years’ experience working on heavy equipment and commercial vehicles
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in outdoor, remote, and physically demanding environments
- Valid driver’s licence (Class 3 or higher considered an asset)
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices
Assets
- Experience in construction, forestry, or mining environments
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Knowledge of CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours or on-call rotations
- Experience in working on CAT, Cummins, Detroit & other HD/MD Engines
- Operating diagnostic software for the above units
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
