As an IVR/X-ray Technologist, you’ll be part of a specialized inter-professional team performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Your expertise will support high-quality imaging and safe, effective treatment in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
- Perform radiographic and interventional procedures using prescribed ionizing radiation
- Support imaging in emergency, surgical, portable, fluoroscopy, and interventional suites
- Ensure high-quality imaging with minimal radiation exposure
- Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and transfer to recovery
- Operate and maintain interventional equipment including stents, balloons, embolization tools, and ablation devices
- Scrub in for procedures using sterile technique and assist as a circulating technologist
- Load and operate automatic contrast injectors under physician direction
- Document exams and ensure accurate image labeling and PACS verification
- Perform post-processing and image quality control
- Maintain clean and well-stocked work areas with appropriate shielding and supplies
- Troubleshoot equipment and participate in quality control testing
- Supervise and mentor MRT students and support orientation of new staff
- Uphold radiation safety standards and educate the care team on protection protocols
- Adhere to KHSC policies and Occupational Health & Safety Act responsibilities
- Participate in early and safe return-to-work processes if needed
What You Bring
- Completion of a recognized course in X-ray technology
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Competency in general radiology imaging equipment
- Proficiency in aseptic technique and sterile procedures
- Strong organizational skills and independent decision-making ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professionalism in interpersonal relations and discretion with confidential matters
- Proficiency in medical terminology and hospital systems including PACS
- Proven ability to attend work regularly
- Clear criminal reference and vulnerable sector check
