Job Purpose:
As a Die Polisher you will reports to the lead hand, you will deburr and polish large extrusion (metal) dies- up to 600 lbs, 52” diameter and 2” thick, and components with various hand tools according to drawings, sketches and instructions. You will also pre-assemble die components and operate power crane to lift and move heavy material and assemblies.
Responsibilities:
- Deburr and polish large extrusion dies with various hand tools (applying pressure) and grinders to meet BE standards
- Pre-assemble large die components using a crane, assemble components/ sub-assemblies for further machining
- Prepare items for subcontract operations (packing)
- Review drawings, specifications and tooling requirements for each job
- Review surface finish to ensure compliance to BE standards; review plating prior to buffing
- User power crane to lift and move heavy material and assemblies
- Operate machinery/ equipment and work in a safe manner
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and surrounding area
- Report any non-conformance dimensions on drawings or machines to lead hand
- Record all operations/ jobs worked on by clocking in/ out on daily time card
- Assist with other tasks, projects, depts., as needed
- Carry out tasks/ activities according to company and safe policies, standards and ISO procedures
- Physically demanding work (e.g. applying pressure while using hand tools)
- Repetitive motions and extensive standing is required
- Exposure to dust and polishing compounds may occur – must wear the proper PPE provided
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 2-5 years experience in polishing large dies or molds
- Basic blueprint reading skills is an asset
- Safety training and experience
- Crane and lift truck experience
- Demonstrates conscientious
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Ability to work within a dynamic fast-paced, work environment
- Ability to interact and deal effectively with production personal using excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented and can be counted on to meet and exceed goals successfully
- Clearly understand problems and makes sound decisions to resolve discrepancies and errors
