Job Overview:
Seeking a highly organized, proactive Business Affairs Assistant to join our fast-paced Business Affairs team. This role will be a key contributor in supporting tax credit and funding applications, while assisting with business affairs matters across corporate, development, production, and finance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- General Support: Provide day-to-day business affairs and administrative support across development, production, and finance.
- Department Organization: Maintain and update internal tracking systems, all contract administration, and organizational documents, ensuring accurate oversight of key dates, deliverables, drawdowns, contractual obligations, and rights.
- Document Preparation: Prepare, draft, and assemble a wide range of business affairs documents, including agreements, applications, reports, and internal materials, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery. Keeping track of payments and invoices.
- Coordination and Archiving: Oversee digital archiving and physical filing of key documents, including agreements, chain of title documentation, and funding applications, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
- Funding Applications: Track development and production funding opportunities, including deadlines and eligibility requirements. Prepare, complete, and submit applications, and monitor ongoing contractual obligations and reporting requirements.
- Tax Credit Administration: Prepare and compile all required documentation for provincial and federal tax credit applications (eligibility and final filings).
- Industry Affairs: Monitor industry developments, policies, guidelines, and collective agreements. Conduct research and prepare internal briefing materials and reports.
- Production Set-Up: Coordinate registrations with Unions, CRTC, SOCAN, ISAN, and complete Canadian and U.S. copyright registrations as applicable. Create and track credit obligations.
- Deliverables and Drawdowns: Track, coordinate, and submit development and production deliverables to broadcasters, distributors, and funders.
- Reporting: Support the finance team by sourcing and preparing key production and contractual documentation required for reporting, audits, and compliance across all productions.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in business affairs, production, or a high-level corporate environment, preferably within the Canadian film and television industry
- Exposure to or familiarity with Canadian tax credit regulations, Canada Media Fund, and/or production funding structures is considered a strong asset
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- Highly reliable and proactive, with strong problem-solving abilities and sound professional judgment
- Proficiency with Mac systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, with working knowledge of collaboration and document management platforms (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Pay: $1,250.00 per week
