Responsibilities
- Primary experience should include centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, mechanical seals, API systems, and associated rotating equipment used in upstream, midstream, gas processing, and pipeline facilities.
- Work with other disciplines while providing rotating specialist duties.
- Develop solutions to complex mechanical engineering problems related to oil and gas industry.
- Prepare technical data sheet, specifications and tender, packages for rotating equipment systems and other mechanical packages, technical selection, calculation, sizing and evaluation of packages and rotating equipment.
- Review vendor designs, submissions, drawings and mechanical details/calculations for compliance with RFQ documents and Client/Project requirements.
- Ensure equipment design conformance with project cost, schedule and specifications
- Provide mechanical discipline input for supporting project deliverables such as; DBM, engineered drawings, equipment datasheets and quality control and checking.
- Define project specifications for rotating equipment and other mechanical packages selection, quotation and purchase.
- Authenticate deliverables as per client and technical jurisdiction requirements.
- Perform hydraulic and process evaluation, sizing, selection, specification, and troubleshooting of centrifugal pumps and gas compression systems including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.
- Experience with API 610 pumps, API 617/618 compressors, seal systems, vibration analysis, surge considerations, NPSH evaluations, and rotating equipment reliability assessments.
- Existing equipment evaluation as required; suggest retrofit modifications and upgrades
- Vendor drawing review.
- Support commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, debottlenecking, and optimization of centrifugal pumps and compressor systems in operating facilities.
- Provide technical support for vibration issues, seal failures, cavitation, compressor surge, bearing failures, and equipment performance optimization.
- Compliance with safety, quality, regulatory and technical standards.
- Provide assistance for commissioning and start-up activities for Rotating equipment.
- Technical support to project construction management team as required.
- Provide MOC support to operations team.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, is a registered P. Eng with APEGA, and must have experience in oil and gas upstream facilities and pipelines with an EPCM or producer company.
Must possess the following:
- 10 to 15 years’ relevant experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong computer, organizational and technical skills
- Strong knowledge of applicable industry standards including API 610, API 617, API 618, API 614, API 682, ASME, and relevant CSA requirements
- Experience working with OEMs and packagers including vendor bid evaluations, technical clarifications, and FAT / SAT support
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects at the same time,
- Capable of working independently
- Meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment,
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization,
- Strong problem-solving skills,
- Confident, Enthusiastic and have a Positive Attitude.
