Job Summary
Gaulin Roofing is looking for an experienced Roofing Crew Leader / Second Hand to help lead our residential roofing crews. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, leads by example, and keeps projects running safely and efficiently.
We're looking for someone who is dependable, motivated, and takes ownership of every project. Reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic are just as important as roofing experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support your roofing crew throughout the day.
- Install, repair, and replace residential asphalt shingle roofing systems.
- Ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to Gaulin Roofing's quality standards.
- Assist with planning daily workflow and keeping projects on schedule.
- Train and mentor newer employees.
- Ensure proper use of fall protection and all required safety equipment.
- Perform quality inspections throughout each project.
- Load, unload, and organize roofing materials and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.
- Complete thorough site cleanup at the end of each project.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, crew members, and management.
- Report project progress, material needs, and any job site concerns.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of residential asphalt shingle roofing experience.
- Previous leadership or crew lead experience is considered an asset.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs or more repeatedly.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while leading a team.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered an asset.

Compensation & Advancement
Starting wage is CA$27.00–CA$33.00 per hour, depending on experience, skill level, and leadership ability.

Crew Leaders are eligible to earn performance-based bonuses for projects that are completed efficiently while meeting our expectations for quality, safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction.
Bonus amounts vary based on project size, complexity, overall crew performance, and the successful completion of the project without compromising workmanship or safety.
Probationary Period: All new hires begin at the starting wage during their probationary period. At the end of the probationary period, a performance review will be conducted. Employees who demonstrate reliability, quality workmanship, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude may be eligible for a wage increase based on their performance.
