TEMPORARY FULL-TIME MANANGER POSITION (starting October 1, 2026 to mid-May 2026 or until return of incumbent)
SCOPE AND LEVEL DEFINITION:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Adult Day Centre (ADC) Manager, possesses strong leadership skills and has a proven track record in leading/managing clinical teams serving families with frail seniors living with multiple chronic illnesses. This role requires a commitment to excellence in Nursing and/or Therapeutic Recreation services, team development, and operational efficiency. As a Manager, is responsible for ensuring quality care/services at a stand alone adult day centre, managing budgets, and ensuring the highest professional standards and operational-related regulations are upheld.
Duties and Responsibilities
· In collaboration with Renfrew Collingwood Seniors Society (RCSS) Leadership Team, implement designated responsibilities from RCSS strategic plan.
- Manages resources with monthly review of operational budget/petty cash expenses, and the development of action plans to address operational budgetary variances. Reviews contracted agency budgets and responsibilities in terms of established contract performance criteria and liaises with agency to establish required action plans.
- Reviews Renfrew Collingwood Seniors Society workplace indicators in areas such as retention, engagement, safety, absenteeism and overtime, and establishes objectives and action plans in relation to the indicators.
· Applies established criteria and prioritizes intake/admissions, leads and ensures staffing levels are aligned with needs of clients, ensures current and evidenced based Nursing and Recreation practice are implemented, plans for appropriate discharge processes in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders, such as clients, family members, Health Authority Home Health representative, Executive Director.
· Supervises nursing, recreation, and kitchen staff, coordinates the work of the team overall on a day-to-day basis, observes work and corrects where necessary, monitors the quality of care and the safety of clients, assigns, and adjusts work assignments, schedules and coordinates staff, monitors and may authorize staff hours of work, including vacations, leave requests, while ensuring service levels and staffing requirements are met.
· Interprets, applies and ensures operational and service contract plans meet accepted operational and/or contractual requirements, professional standards, collective agreement or other standards and legislated/contractual obligations. Investigates complaints or grievances and collaborates with Executive Director to develop response to complaints or grievances.
· Supports quality client care and excellence in practice by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and team building, supporting staff to plan and carry out client/family education regarding illness prevention and health maintenance, acting as a mentor and resource to staff, role modeling best practices, assessing clinical skills and by coaching staff and/or liaising with adult day center leaders to help achieve established performance goals.
· Initiates/leads/supports care meetings, daily huddles, weekly care planning meetings for the purpose of optimal client care management; disseminates pertinent clinical/recreation related information to nursing and recreation staff.
· Identifies learning requirements of staff and, in conjunction with Executive Director, provides input into the development of learning objectives, provides support and guidance and evaluates the effectiveness of learning opportunities.
· Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities by methods such as evaluating effect of changes in practice, generating recommendations for alternative approaches to practices, conducting safety audits, supporting implementation teaching/learning when required, and fostering an environment of innovation and critical thinking.
· Provides input into the development of a comprehensive orientation program, in collaboration with the Executive Director and senior leadership team.
· Acts as a point person for clients and families who have concerns or questions regarding services; follow-ups as required. Participates in or leads the investigation of complaints by clients/families; follow-ups on complaints and implement corrective action as appropriate.
· Assists Executive Director by attending panel interviews, providing recommendations on the selection of new staff, conducting staff performance appraisals, collaborating with staff in developing/completing career growth/learning plans
· Provides feedback on optimal use of budgetary resources, which includes feedback about minor and capital equipment needs as required
· Co-ordinates, participates or facilitates research initiatives taking an interdisciplinary and consultative approach. Identifies emerging best practices and technologies and develops strategies for integration into operations. Promotes staff awareness and involvement in research/evaluation activities and special projects and participates in research and special projects as appropriate. Participates in the review, development, implement and evaluation of evident-informed clinical decision support tools/policies
· Ensures nutritional meals and snacks are made by the cook every month, which includes developing monthly calendar of meals, maintaining sufficient inventory of food items each month, maintaining current supplies of frozen meals for community meal program.
· In collaboration with Executive Director, oversees and addresses building maintenance issues; ensures building equipment are maintained according to a scheduled maintenance program, and ensures environmental health regulations are upheld
· Chairs and/or participates on internal (e.g. Occupational Health & Safety Committee) and external (e.g. Lower Mainland Adult Day Centres Association) committees; prepares status reports to update the Executive Director and/or develops recommendations on follow up action to be taken; implements approved recommendations.
· Ensures Director is informed of and aware of significant events and activities in the areas of responsibility.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) years of recent related clinical experience in adult day programs and/or frail seniors population, including one (1) year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Completion of post graduate course work and/or certification applicable to working with frail seniors population
- Current BC Food Safe Certification
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Updated immunization record
