DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Splice and test in both inside and outside plant applications
- Analyze test results and have the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults
- Read, interpret and understand all types of drawing or documents related to a fiber splicing project
- Execute all work assigned in accordance with the Company Health and Safety policy
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment
- Accurately record work hours and complete all health and safety requirements for the job
- Promptly report project progress to the appropriate personal and communicate any issues or expected delays
- Perform other duties as required
FIBRE OPTICS TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar technical field is an asset
- Min 3 years of splicing experience
- Holds a valid G license and a clean driver’s abstract
- Competency in OTDR and other testing protocol
- Demonstrates commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and emergency call outs as required
- Willing to travel as required
SKILLS:
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to carry, lift and work with heavy objects/equipment (e.g. manhole covers)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to carry, raise and climb a ladder
- Demonstrates effective decision-making skills under limited supervision
- Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
- Should have basic computer skills
Pay: $20.00-$34.00 per hour
