Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Farm Hand to join our Dairy farm. This role involves hands-on work in maintaining and supporting farm operations, working closely with cow ensuring the smooth running of daily activities. Candidate must have a vehicle with a valid driver’s licence (minimum class 5) and be willing to work a split shift (morning shift is 3:15-8:15am /afternoon shift is 2:00pm- 5:00pm)The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a passion for farming and outdoor work. This position offers an opportunity to develop practical skills in farm management, machinery operation, and dairy production and husbandry.
Duties
- Daily milking of a 250 head dairy farm.
- Animal husbandry and care of cows, heifers and calves
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and systems
- Support livestock including feeding animals and cleaning enclosures
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times
- Assist with general farm upkeep including fencing, landscaping, and equipment storage
- Prior experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Mechanical knowledge is advantageous for troubleshooting equipment issues
- Ability to operate farm machinery and power tools safely
- Physical strength is required for some heavy lifting (50lbs)
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to follow safety guidelines diligently and work as part of a team
- Must be able to handle the physical demands of farm work including standing for long periods and performing manual labor consistently
Pay: $18.25-$30.00 per hour
