Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our optical team. The ideal candidate will assist customers in selecting eyewear, ensure accurate lens fitting, and provide exceptional service to enhance patient satisfaction. The Optician will collaborate closely with optometrists and other staff members to support the overall operations of the optical department.
Duties
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses based on their prescriptions, lifestyle, and preferences.
- Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame adjustments.
- Educate patients about different lens options, coatings, and frame styles to enhance their eyewear experience.
- Ensure all eyewear orders are processed accurately and efficiently using optical software systems such as Epic.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments to eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort.
- Maintain a clean and organized optical area, including sterilization of equipment as needed.
- Manage retail sales transactions, including processing payments.
- Collaborate with the optical team to maintain inventory levels and order supplies when necessary.
- Stay updated on new optical products, trends, and technological advancements to better serve patients.
Experience
- Prior experience with optical retail sales or laboratory work is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care is preferred.
- Laboratory experience in lens fabrication or fitting enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Strong competency in English language, clear and neat handwriting is a must.
- Experience in retail management or sales demonstrates strong customer service skills.
- Candidates with optical experience combined with excellent communication skills will excel in providing personalized patient care.
