TDE is searching for an Electrical Apprentice to be responsible for safely assisting the Journeymen Electricians with their duties which may include installing, altering, repairing and maintain electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Observe and learn while assisting the Journeymen Electricians with their duties.
- Must be able to follow instructions exactly as given.
- Read and Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, specifications, and applicable code to determine wiring layouts.
- Tests electrical parts for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
- Do preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems.
- Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial equipment.
- Install electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches, and equipment required to accommodate the CEC and /or NEC.
- Works on electrical failures and replaces components.
- Help maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Report any issues and/or concerns to the Electrical Lead Hand and/or the Journeymen.
Qualifications:
- Some experience in electrical or similar field of work.
- Experience in a construction or shop fabrication environment.
- Must be enrolled in a Certified Electrician Apprenticeship program.
- Working knowledge and background in a fabrication, manufacturing, and construction is essential.
- Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a high pressure and deadline driven environment.
- Ability to prioritize activities, adapt, and stay focused in a dynamic changing environment.
- Good computer skills are an asset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.
