Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying joint compound to drywall seams and finishing surfaces to ensure a smooth, professional appearance. This role requires attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prior construction experience and familiarity with various finishing techniques are highly valued. The Drywall Taper plays a vital role in delivering high-quality results on residential and commercial projects.
Duties
- Apply joint compound (mud) to drywall seams, screw heads, and surface imperfections using taping knives and other tools
- Sand and smooth finished surfaces to prepare for painting or further finishing
- Install corner beads and other finishing accessories as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications to ensure accurate application of materials
- Perform caulking around joints, corners, and trim for a seamless finish
- Assist with related carpentry tasks such as installing drywall panels or framing when required
- Maintain a clean work area, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Skills
- Proven experience in drywall taping, finishing, or related construction roles
- Knowledge of construction painting, carpentry, caulking, and handyman skills is a plus
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship in surface finishing
- Good hand-eye coordination and proficiency with hand tools such as taping knives, sanders, and drills
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift materials up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions
