Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, Operations the Quality Assurance Lead will be responsible for assisting QA supervisor oversee the day to day operations of the quality assurance department and monitor plant process to ensure quality and food safety parameters are achieved on second shift.
This is an existing position in the company.
Shift: Monday - Friday - early morning shift

What you will be doing:
1. Verifies that manufactured product is compliant with customer and MLF specifications and approves or rejects products prior to delivery to storage areas. Holds suspect in process and finished products and assists in final dispositions.
2. Ensures corrective actions are taken in order to get the product to MLF and customer requires specifications by following up on appropriate parties on deviations and corrective actions on production floors.
3. Checks and tests raw materials, formulas and technological processes to ensure that they meet the customer and MLF standards.
4. Monitors the assigned area ensure that employees are compliant with Company’s Good Manufacturing Practices and records the results as well as corrective actions, if deviations occur.
5. Monitors and records all tasks assigned and completed the relevant documents in a timely manner (as soon as possible to real time). Ensures that all related documents are accurate, comprehensive, kept up to date and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
6. Monitors and/or verifies the CCPs related to assigned departments.
7. Obtains product, ingredient, packaging material, samples for microbiological analysis according to the schedule when required.
8. Provides daily information to QA Supervisor with respect to results and progress in the assigned area of the plan. Recommends solutions to obtain the best quality products and communicates with sales daily on the status of product on hold.
9. Supports QA technicians working on production floors on both shifts.
10. Back up for QA Supervisor.
What you will bring:
- Minimum of three years quality assurance and/or research and development experience in the food industry, preferably in meat and in a unionized environment;
- Working knowledge of GMPs and HACCP.;
- Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
- Knowledge of all QA tasks including Pre-op.
- Hands on technical orientation, with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while organizing and prioritizing workload
- General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office).

Post Secondary Diploma in a related field required.
