Specific Responsibilities
- Prepares foods from the daily menu already assigned, hot or cold, in a timely fashion for meal service with strong emphasis on presentation
- Is responsible for cleaning tables and equipment; maintaining work area in a sanitary condition.
- Operates various kitchen equipment as assigned, reports malfunctioning equipment.
- Weighs and measures ingredients, properly using recipes in order to produce a standard product.
Supervises kitchen prep.Insures that all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and that kitchen employees maintain procedures.
- Monitors and records all the food temperatures, temperature of dishwashing machine and cooler and freezer temperatures on a daily basis.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees and residents to foster and promote a fun harmonious working atmosphere that maximizes morale, productivity and efficiency.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Kitchen Manager & Dining room Supervisor
Qualifications:
-Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to 4 hours in length and to lift, bend, and stoop. Must have the ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
At least 2 years experience
Able to work weekend & stats
Food safe
2 years post-secondary culinary education preferred
The successful incumbent could potentially work at two kitchen sites in two buildings (side by side) for call out shifts for vacation and sick leave coverage. This could increase the ability to pick up more hours and shifts. Each building has it's own Collective Agreement. Sherwood House is BCGEU and Wedgwood House is CLAC.
Pay: From $23.87 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
