and families. As we expand, we are seeking a reliable, detaildriven Bookkeeper to help
maintain clean, compliant financial records.
Position Overview
We are looking for a parttime Hybrid Bookkeeper who is confident using QuickBooks
Online, understands smallbusiness bookkeeping workflows, and can support our
Executive Director with accurate financial tracking, reconciliation, and reporting. This
role is primarily remote, with occasional onsite visits to our centre in Markham for
document collection, audits, or meetings—so candidates must live within the
GTA/Markham area.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update QuickBooks Online, ensuring accurate and timely entry of
all transactions
-Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
-Track accounts payable and receivable
-Prepare monthly and quarterly financial summaries for the Executive Director Support HST/GST filings and ensure CRA compliance
- Organize receipts, invoices, and financial documentation
- Assist with payroll preparation and WSIB reporting
- Provide recommendations to improve financial processes and recordkeeping
- Attend occasional onsite meetings at Hope’s Place (Markham)
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience (small business or nonprofit
preferred)
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (mandatory)
Postsecondary certificate or diploma in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or
Business Administration
Strong understanding of CRA compliance, HST/GST, and payroll basics
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Must live in Markham/GTA and be able to attend the centre when needed
Preferred Assets
Experience working with nonprofits or community organizations
Familiarity with WSIB reporting
Comfort working in a trauma informed, neurodiversity focused environment
Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial information clearly
