Position Overview
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of purchase orders while overseeing the receiving and inventory management of the same. This position collaborates with multiple departments and vendors to continually review, report, and update our inventory needs for evolving customer demand. Standard hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Successful candidate will be located in or near Langley, BC.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Reviewing inventory levels and determining requirements for PO generation
- Issuing purchase orders and ensuring orders are processed correctly by supplier
- Confirming orders by verifying delivery dates, details, and logistics planning
- Schedule delivery of product with vendors and monitor arrival dates through reporting analysis and coordination with receiving department
- Processing, changing, and communicating PO changes with supply partners
- Allocating/Re-allocating stock for customer orders
- Reporting on overstock and slow-moving sku’s weekly
- Review and resolve SKU exceptions: short shipments, late shipments, low stock, and excess inventory, dead stock, and poor quality
- Respond to inquiries on out-of-stock situations, new product orders, status of purchase orders and current inventory levels
- Updating ERP on sale and discontinued models
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce costs
- Assist Accounts Payable in determining correct costs for invoice discrepancies
- Assist with annual R&D of new products
- Coordinate PO’s and on-time delivery of salesman samples
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in purchasing position and/or logistics experience working with the supplier community or an equivalent combination of education and training
- Minimum High school diploma or GED equivalent, related Post-Secondary education or certificate considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel) and Outlook
- Detail oriented with high level of accuracy while working under specific deadlines
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills
- Exceptional communication skills & professional email etiquette
- Excellent analytical and time management skills
- Ability to identify and set priorities, make informed decisions, and follow through on tasks from start to finish
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently
