Purpose:
As part of the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change Dean's Changemaker Program, the Urban Agricultural Assistant will provide support to the nature spaces located at the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change at York University. These multi-purpose nature spaces are used for urban farming, teaching, learning, researching, and hosting workshops. The Urban Agriculture Assistant will work with faculty to coordinate events hosted in the nature spaces. This position also involves urban farming as well as documenting and adding new information to the digital archive about the history of the gardens and native plant species.
Education:
Current Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change (BA, BES, BSc) undergraduate York student.
Experience:
Previous work experience in gardening and knowledge of horticulture
Skills:
1. Ability to plan social activities, programs and events that contribute to an engaged community.2. Ability to collaborate and work with others to complete a shared goal.3. Ability to communicate with others to explain and share information.4. Ability to meet deadlines and organize time effectively.5. Ability to learn and use a variety of computer applications. 6. Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
Additional Notes:
Ability to lift/move/carry equipment or material of varying weights.
