Sweet Thea Bakery, a bakery and café at Main & 32nd in Vancouver, is hiring a dependable Cook/Kitchen Assistant to join our kitchen team.
About Us:
We’re a 24-seat café inside a working bakery, focused on showcasing our exceptional sourdough breads through a concise and high-quality breakfast, lunch, and brunch menu. Everything is made in-house — sauces, soups, cured meats, breads — using real, fresh ingredients. Kitchen service is from 9am to 3pm, every day of the week.
About the Role:
We are looking for a dependable Cook to join our kitchen team.
This position supports the preparation and service of our daily menu of soups, sandwiches, and other light fare. ( no fryers). The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen and helping wherever needed to keep service running smoothly.
Schedule
- currently Thursday – Monday inclusive , with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off
- 36-40 hours per week @ $22/hour
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare ingredients for soups, sandwiches, and other menu items
- food preparation and assembly
- Portion and package food items
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment
- Restock ingredients and supplies as needed
- Assist with service and line preparation during busy periods
- Support the kitchen team with general production and cleaning tasks
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, café, restaurant, deli, catering operation, or food production environment
- Able to work efficiently and stay productive throughout the shift
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety
- Able to stand for extended periods and perform moderate lifting
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed
Please note: This is an active, hands-on kitchen position. We are seeking someone with previous commercial food-service experience who is comfortable working as part of a busy kitchen team.
