Dataco Utility Services has been contracted to complete meter exchanges on behalf of Red Deer Electric Light and Power. We are currently seeking 8 Service Technicians / AMI Meter Installers to join our team for this large-scale utility project.
This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the utility services industry. On-the-job training will be provided.
Position Summary
Eight Successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient exchange of residential and commercial electrical meters while representing Dataco Utility Services professionally in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete electrical meter exchanges at customer locations
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Adhere to the company safety program at all times
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers and the public
- Accurately complete required documentation and reporting
- Operate safely while traveling between job locations
- Work efficiently to meet project schedules and productivity targets
Employment Details
- Term: Temporary Project Position (6–8 Months)
- Projected Dates: May 25, 2026 – February 1, 2027
- Location: Red Deer, Alberta
- Wage: $27.86 per hour + an additional 4% in lieu of vacation
- Vehicle Allowance: $0.55 per kilometer for approved business use
- Overtime: Overtime opportunities may be available based on project demands and scheduling requirements.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with statutory holidays off.
Requirements
Applicants must be able to meet the following pre-employment requirements:
- No previouse expereince necessary
- Valid driver’s license
- Driver’s abstract (minimum 3 months history, maximum 6 demerits)
- Criminal background check
- Negative drug and alcohol test (required for selected candidates prior to employment)
- Reliable personal vehicle for project use
- Personal vehicles must be in good condition and free of visible rust
