Heavy Duty Mechanic - Journeyman/Journeywoman or Apprentice

Hours of Work: 40 hours weekly, over-time after 44 hours

Primary Role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mechanic is responsible for completing daily field activities by operating shop equipment and tools, as deemed competent, in order to meet client goals and expectations. If the Mulching Operations Manager is not available at any time, the Mechanic shall report to the AB Operations Manager.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Working inside a shop environment
- Maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, semitrucks and equipment
- Part ordering, maintenance record paperwork
- Required to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Maintain and repair fleet vehicles, equipment and heavy-duty equipment
- Maintain fleet vehicles, equipment and heavy-duty equipment as per manufacturer’s maintenance schedules.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the shop
- Record keeping of safety documentation and application records.
- Complete daily inspections of company vehicle, spraying equipment and other company equipment that is required for the scope of work.
- Follow, know and understand all applicable company policies, practices and procedures
- Follow, know and understand all applicable client policies, practices, procedures and site-specific policies and procedures.
- Work in accordance with Marksmen HSE program.
- Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and all relevant regulations.
- Accountable for following the client and Marksmen HSE policies and procedures to reduce incidents and damages.
- Work in a manner that will not endanger themselves or others.
- Report dangerous work.
- Report all incidents and follow proper procedures when incident occurs.
- Attend and perform in daily safety meetings, toolbox, monthly drills etc.
- Worker must be fit for duty, remain fit for duty, physically fit enough to perform the job safely efficiently.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Mechanic experience
- Heavy Duty Mechanic experience an asset
- Journeyman/Journeywoman ticket
- Class 5 driver’s license
- The ability to demonstrate road experience with various vehicles and equipment.
- First Aid CPR A or CPR C
- H2S Alive
- WHMIS and TDG
- Wildlife Awareness
- CSO or CSTS or PST
