Mrs. Riches is long standing, locals favorite, family run restaurant in Nanaimo, BC - serving fresh, scratch-made comfort food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We're looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager/ Head Cook to lead the line and help us keep raising the bar.
What you'll do
- Run day-to-day kitchen operations, from prep through service, and jump on the line when it counts
- Lead, schedule, and mentor the back-of-house team; help hire and train new cooks
- Manage food ordering, inventory, and vendor relationships to keep costs in line and shelves stocked
- Own food cost and labour targets, and work with ownership to hit them
- Maintain menu consistency and portion standards, and contribute ideas for specials and seasonal items
- Keep the kitchen spotless and fully compliant with BC food safety and health regulations
- Reduce waste, keep equipment maintained, and keep service moving during busy rushes
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of kitchen leadership experience (Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or Head Cook) in a pub, bistro, or high-volume casual restaurant
- Strong cooking fundamentals and comfort working a full station during peak service
- Proven ability to manage food cost, inventory, and scheduling
- FOODSAFE Level 1
- Calm, organized leadership style and great communication with both kitchen and front-of-house
- Reliable availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
