Murray Sims Construction Ltd. is a provider of premium residential construction and remodeling services for Vancouver's West Side. We specialize in custom home builds, renovations and building additions. We are fully licensed and bonded and have been operating in Vancouver since 1998. Our projects incorporate innovative building practices and contemporary architectural design.
The Job
We are seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a broad range of residential construction skills and the confidence to work independently while consistently delivering high-quality results for clients.
Responsibilities
- Complete residential carpentry work including assisting with layout, framing, formwork, and finishing carpentry
- Complete finishing work including installation of doors, windows, hardware, millwork, and fixtures.
- Complete minor demolition and site preparation work
- Coordinate with subcontractors when required
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship on all projects
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Safely operating hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
Qualifications
- Strong general carpentry skills (Red Seal Certification)
- Experience in finish carpentry required (5+ years of relevant experience or relevant schooling with relevant experience)
- Ability to complete projects independently with minimal supervision
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of residential construction practices and BC Building Code requirements
Requirements
- Must reside in the Lower Mainland (Site projects are primarily located in the Vancouver West End).
- Must have own tools and safety equipment
- Occupational First Aid ticket (Level 1 or higher) is an asset
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in both indoor and outdoor conditions
- Steel-toed boots, tool belt, and basic carpenter hand and power tools
Job Type: Full Time
- $40–$45/hr based on experience
