About the role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing team. Reporting to our Accounting Supervisor, this role will own the day-to-day accounting operations and support financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Manage full-cycle accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expense reimbursements, and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts every month.
- Monitor cash flow and support cash management activities.
- Other duties as assigned if necessary, including the treasury, and assisting other team members with ad hoc tasks as required
Billing and Revenue Management
- Set up projects and prepare accurate customer invoices based on signed contracts and project milestones.
- Track collections and follow up professionally with customers regarding outstanding invoices.
- Support revenue recognition and contract administration processes.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support leadership with financial data and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Help identify financial trends and opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Compliance & Controls
- Support tax filings, government remittances, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assist with annual financial reviews, audits, and external accounting relationships.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting regulations.
- Help develop and maintain internal controls and financial procedures.
Process Improvement
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounting workflows and processes.
- Assist with the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and tools.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that improve business operations and scalability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and payroll.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA) is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a startup, technology, SaaS, or high-growth company.
- Experience with Intercompany transactions across multiple entities, project-based accounting, and contract billing.
- Familiarity with Canadian payroll, GST/HST, and corporate tax requirements.
- Experience supporting audit or year-end review processes.

- Pay: $65,000 - $68,000 annually (we're open to salary negotiations)
