POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operational Accounting, the Senior Operational Accountant plays a critical role in the accurate and timely reporting of all operational related financials. The individual interacts frequently with both management and the operational teams to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all operational reporting.
CORE RESPONSBILITIES
- Track, analyze, and report on project performance ranging from small projects to large multi-million-dollar projects.
- Preparation of monthly reporting files, including work in progress, divisional income statements, and forecast.
- Prepare journal entries, prepare account reconciliation related to operations, and recognize revenue according to the revenue recognition policy.
- Variance analysis of financial results, at the job and divisional level, against both budget and forecast including Fleet analysis.
- Work alongside Operations to update monthly forecasts and upload into the ERP.
- Actively monitor outstanding account receivables balance, partner with Operations on timely payment collections from clients.
- Contribute to annual budgeting process.
- Review open jobs and purchase orders, work alongside Operations to close in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of contract requirements for billing and ability to identify contract risk.
- Providing information during annual financial statement audits.
- Project specific reporting and analysis for internal and external clients.
- Maintains systems, procedures, and policies in accordance with Forbes guidelines.
- Other projects and duties within the financial services department as assigned.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- Enrolled in or completed Chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation is an asset.
- 5-7 or more years of related accounting or financial analysis experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of overall accounting experience related to project accounting or financial analysis.
- Knowledge of operational accounting, job profit analysis, and cost analysis
- Experience applying complex job costing principles and variance analysis.
- Work in progress preparation and analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, IF Functions)

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
