Job Summary
WINTEC is seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to join our asphalt crew! The ideal candidates will take pride in their work, are hardworking, have knowledge of industry safety standards, procedures, and work as a team player. We are currently seeking the following positions for our Asphalt Division:
- Asphalt Labourer
- Asphalt Raker
- Screed Operator
- Tack Truck Driver
Responsibilities
- Meet quality standards and specifications as instructed by crew foreman to ensure daily schedules are met
- Hand place asphalt obtaining proper depth, grade and finish.
- Observe the distribution of paving material along the screed and control the direction of the screed to eliminate voids at curbs and joints.
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate other equipment and new positions required on an asphalt crew.
- Maintain proper asphalt thickness, width, grade, and smoothness
- Coordinate with the paver operator and crew to ensure consistent paving operations
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability
- Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled
- Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
Qualifications
- Asphalt experience minimum 2 years
- Must be able to work as a member of a greater team
- Be willing to work long hours and weekends when necessary
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must have CSA approved safety boots
- High school diploma or GED, a combination of education and experience may be considered
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Valid Class 3/with air license
- Additional education or work experience considered an asset

Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
