Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight operations within our logistics team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient transportation management, effective communication with drivers and clients, and smooth execution of shipping and receiving processes. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where strong analytical skills and excellent communication are essential for success.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch trucks using transportation management systems (TMS) and SyteLine software to optimize routes and delivery times.
- Coordinate freight movements, ensuring timely pickup and delivery while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and warehouse staff via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Enter data accurately into AS400, TMS, and other relevant systems for shipment tracking, billing, and reporting purposes.
- Monitor shipment status, troubleshoot issues, and provide real-time updates to stakeholders.
- Analyze shipping data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the supply chain.
- Manage shipping & receiving documentation, including manifests, bills of lading, and freight claims.
- Collaborate with 3PL providers to coordinate third-party logistics services when necessary.
- Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and shipment details for audit purposes.
Experience
- Prior experience working with transportation management systems (TMS), SyteLine, or AS400 is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of supply chain operations, freight management, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Proven ability in data entry with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret logistics data for operational improvements.
- Effective communication skills demonstrated through phone etiquette and professional interaction with clients and team members.
- Proficiency in typing and managing multi-line phone systems for efficient dispatching workflow.
- Experience working within a 3PL environment or managing freight logistics is a plus. This role is vital in ensuring the seamless movement of goods across our supply chain network while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.
Pay: $17.75-$31.75 per hour
