Should this temporary vacancy be filled by a regular full-time employee, seniority and benefits will continue in the normal manner and the regular employee will continue to maintain normal, full-time status for the duration of the appointment.

Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, reads water meters to facilitate customer billing; and identifies meter equipment problems.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reads water meters on assigned routes and records readings into electronic hand-held meter-reading equipment.

Obtains final readings for changes of ownership and tenant moves.

Identifies health and safety concerns related to unsafe access to the meter.

Detects and reports atypical conditions on meters and remote readouts.

Responds to customer inquiries related to meter reading; directs billing inquiries to the appropriate Revenue Division staff and meter issues to the Meter Shop.

Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:

Secondary school graduation
Skills/Abilities:
-
Must be able to converse with the public in a courteous and tactful manner

Must be at a basic skill level in on-line data entry skills
-
A working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the job class

Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation

Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
