Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand and power tools, and experience working with various types of machinery including farm equipment, HVAC systems, and heavy construction equipment. The position offers an opportunity to work with diverse machinery in a fast-paced environment, ensuring safety and operational efficiency across our fleet and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Repair or replace components such as brakes, engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications.
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment safely.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment to complete repairs efficiently.
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and team members.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used.
- Assist in assembly or installation of new equipment or parts when required.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy trucks, trailers, or industrial equipment.
- Dealership experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, HVAC systems, welding techniques, electrical systems, and schematics.
- Knowledge of Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment brands is a plus.
- Experience with automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Prior experience working with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly processes is preferred.
- Customer service skills are beneficial for interactions with clients or team members regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
