Pet Specialist (Part-Time/Flexible Hours)

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and animal-loving Pet Specialist to join our team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for meaningful part-time work who has a flexible schedule and can help cover shifts as needed.
This position starts at 10–15 hours per week and may grow over time. Because our staffing needs vary, we're looking for someone who is available to work a mix of weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays within our store hours.
This role is best suited to someone with a flexible daytime schedule who can reliably cover varying shifts during our operating hours.
Store Hours
- Monday–Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Welcome customers and assist with product selection.
- Answer questions about pet care, feeding, and products.
- Process sales transactions and handle returns professionally.
- Create a friendly, knowledgeable shopping experience for every customer.
Animal Care
- Feed, monitor, and care for animals to ensure their health and well-being.
- Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable animal habitats.
Store Operations
- Stock shelves, rotate inventory, and check product dates.
- Receive, unpack, and organize shipments.
- Maintain a clean and organized store, including floors, shelves, and displays.
- Assist with merchandising and seasonal promotions.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow store policies and municipal/provincial regulations.
- Safely handle equipment, products, and live animals.
Qualifications
- Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset, especially in a pet or animal-related environment.
- Passion for animals and a basic understanding of pet care.
- Friendly, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Reliable availability and flexibility to help cover shifts when needed.
Assets
- Knowledge of exotic pets, aquariums, or pet nutrition.
- Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Work Environment
This role involves working around animals, pet food, animal dander, and cleaning products. It includes lifting, bending, cleaning, and standing throughout the shift.
