Trainer, Health and Safety (Mill)

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly automated lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Role Overview
As Trainer, Health and Safety (Mill), you will play a strategic role in supporting safe, effective, and standardized mill operations through training and competency development. You will be responsible for leading and executing initiatives related to operator training, instructional program development, and continuous improvement of training standards. Working closely with Health, Safety and Training leadership as well as mill operations personnel, you will help strengthen workforce capability, reinforce compliance, and enhance overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Training Delivery: Deliver training and development programs for mobile equipment operators and mill personnel, ensuring workers are properly authorized, competent, and qualified to perform assigned duties.
- Program Development: Support the development and continuous improvement of training programs, instructional materials, lesson plans, and assessment resources.
- Procedure Support: Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures to promote clarity, consistency, and operator progression.
- Compliance and Records: Maintain training records and competency tracking systems while verifying alignment with legislative and organizational requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify skill gaps, contribute to departmental improvement initiatives, and promote strong safety performance through coaching and structured feedback.
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum five years of experience in mill operations and training, with demonstrated expertise in mill equipment, processes, and operational procedures.
- Proven track record in delivering training programs, supporting operator competency development, and maintaining strong safety standards.
- Train-the-Trainer certification or equivalent instructional accreditation, along with relevant mill operational certifications or credentials.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and maintaining training documentation, records, and assessment tools.
- Passion for workplace safety, continuous learning, and developing others in a high-performance environment.

Working Conditions
- This position follows a 4/3 rotation with 10-hour shifts each week. Based on operational needs, the schedule may change to a 7/7 rotation, 10-hour shifts, with appropriate notice
- This role is based at the Young-Davidson operation and supports mill training activities in an active mining environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an active industrial environment, including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and conducting on-site training and assessments as required.
Travel & Accommodation
- Travel Allowance of up to $25.00 CAD per day
