Toronto Athletic FC Academy is a player-centred development program committed to technical excellence, long-term athlete development and competitive success. Our academy provides high-quality training environments for youth players across multiple age groups, emphasizing skill development, game intelligence, and character growth.
The Assistant Technical Director is responsible for leading and implementing the academy’s soccer philosophy, curriculum, and long-term player development pathway. This role oversees coaching standards, player development models, and technical consistency across all academy programs while supporting competitive performance and coach education.

Design, implement, and oversee the academy’s technical curriculum and playing philosophy

Lead long-term player development plans aligned with national and club standards

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate academy coaches

Ensure consistent training methodology across all age groups

Oversee player identification, evaluations, and progression pathways

Collaborate with coaches on session planning, game analysis, and performance reviews

Support competitive programming, league participation, and tournament planning

Liaise with parents, staff, and leadership regarding technical matters

Assist with coach education workshops and internal development programs

Stay current with modern coaching trends, sports science, and best practices

Minimum 5+ years experience in youth soccer development or academy leadership

Proven experience as a Technical Director, Head Coach, or Senior Academy Coach

Recognized coaching licenses (CSA, UEFA, or equivalent preferred)

Strong understanding of Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) models

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to mentor and inspire coaching staff

Passion for player development and high-performance environments

Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)

Experience working in elite or competitive youth academies

Background in coach education or curriculum design
