Lucky’s is an award-winning pet care service provider in Burnaby, BC. For the past 7 years, Lucky's has been a safe and fun environment for dogs of all breeds and sizes to socialize and play with other balanced dogs. We treat our clients' dogs like our own - providing love, boundaries, and stimulating activity while they are in our care. Our friendly staff are DogSafe Certified and trained to take care of a dog's every need. We are here to make sure they are happy and safe. Our team comprises individuals who not only think dogs are the best thing that ever happened to humans, but also have extensive experience of working with and handling dogs. Job description
We are looking for a responsible part-time (8- 12 hours per week) day care attendant with a keen understanding of canine behavior to join our team! Open Monday-Friday 6:30am-7:00pm, Weekend 9:00am-6:00pm
NOT for Highschool students as our latest shift start time is 230pm
NOT seeking weekend employees at this time.
Must be available for shifts Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11:00am-7:30pm, and open to shift coverage on ad-hoc basis. Preference will be given to candidates with the most flexibility.

Responsibilities
- Proactively monitoring groups of dogs
- Confidently managing play levels within safety guidelines,
- Engaging in stimulating play while maintaining calm control using appropriate dog handling techniques
- Sustaining high cleanliness standards within each room
- Safely receiving and discharging dogs to pet parents
- Minor office duties include conducting assessments, processing payments, familiarizing yourself with the products and services we offer, completing daily paperwork and answering phones
- Occasional assistance with grooming
- Actively sharing photos throughout the day to our social media pages to engage with existing and prospective customers - experience with Facebook and Instagram is a must
- Overnight boarding either at home or in our boarding room facilities to monitor boarded dogs.
Requirements
- Love of dogs but must also be a people person
- Valid Pet First Aid Certification and confidence in appropriately managing groups of dogs is a asset.
- Previous experience working in a dog day care/boarding facility, dog walking/hiking or grooming service, veterinary office, animal rescue/shelter or other canine service is an asset.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Assist with special projects (office tasks, organizing events, social media etc)
- Experience in operating Gingr (kennel software) and Square (payment terminal) is an advantage.
- Comfortable with flexible work schedules, including coming to work on short notice, changing work schedule when required. Including working at least 1-2 stat holidays a year.
- The ideal candidate has strong verbal and written communication skills, can prioritize and manage a wide variety of different daily tasks, has a strong sense of team work and collaboration, and can react quickly and calmly to provide the best care to all our animal companions.
Physical Requirements
- All applicants must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19
- Ability to stand and walk for long shifts with minimum break time
- Ability to perform manual and repetitive tasks like picking up after the dogs, cleaning the facility (including lifting equipment) and other tasks required by the manager.
Salary: $18.25 per hour (plus monthly tips) and boarding commissions
Looking to fill shifts primarily with coverage availability.
