Liquids Transloading Ltd., a growing transportation company located West of Calmar, Alberta is seeking dedicated, safety conscience Wash Bay Technician / Swamper to join our team.
Job Description/Tasks
Maintenance:
- Perform yard checks when required
- Empty garbage’s in washbay
- Keep floors clean, walls and grates emptied when needed or above ¼ full.
- Keep parking pads free of excess snow or mud.
- Ensure Mechanical room is clean and tidy
- Routinely check equipment for wear and tear. Example: wash hoses and wash wands.
- Make sure hoses are up to date on yearly pressure inspection.
- Ensure all hose caps are attached to trailer.
- Check pit water tanks, ground grates and residue tanks in both washbays’ daily. Work in conjunction with shop manager to empty tank.
- Check methanol level in tote to ensure enough is on yard for each day. (winter months)
- Check the temperature on loaded trailers in the yard daily.
- Replace required gaskets, dome lid gasket, and hose ears.
- Assist shop when required.
Exterior Washes:
- Outside of trucks and trailers. When it is dry outside trailers are to be scrubbed, not just rinsed.
- Engines, power trains, frame rear ends, batteries, and wheel wells as required by shop.
Interior Tank Cleaning:
- Operating yard truck to move trailers in and out of washrack. Check oil and fluids before starting trucks.
- Understand controls and operation of all cleaning systems.
- Being able to identify maintenance issues with cleaning equipment and reporting them to shop if you are not able to fix yourself.
- Properly remove and collect chemical heel if any and dispose into proper disposal tank.
- Performing internal cleans to bare metal cleans.
- Steam unit according to chemical cleaning specification.
- Flush pump and hoses if required by steam sheet.
- Methanol tanks and pumps in winter months
- Report any malfunctions to shop manager if any found and record on repair sheet.
Paperwork:
- Work in conjunction with dispatch to organize cleaning on daily basis.
- Prepare a completed wash ticket for unit steamed and place proper holder on truck or trailer.
- Keep an organized, updated calendar of units steamed and washed each day.
- Ensure wash tickets are scanned into T drive after each wash with correct documentation.
- File new MSDS sheet in appropriate binders.
Shut Down and Lockup
- Park units in wash bay and mechanics shop in winter months.
- Plug in units when left outside of washbay.
- Ensure doors are closed, locked, and lights out if you are the last one to leave the washbay.
- Tidy work area.
