S&R Sawmills has a long history of Custom Cutting in the Lower Mainland. We are a family run business that was established in 1963 and currently has a workforce of over 300 employees on a large strip of the Fraser River. Role Description:
Reporting to the Shift Foreman, Large Forklift Operator employees are responsible for stacking lumber, feeding packager, and staging loads.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staging and pulling out lumber loads for pick-ups
- Managing yard, tracking lumber packages
- Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management or a member of the safety
- Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Follow all Safe Work Procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the Shift Foreman
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience operating large forklifts required
- Valid forklift certification an asset
- Experience with forest products considered an asset
- Physical demands require be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills
- Safety first attitude
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work (Mill is transit accessible)
- Shifts are Monday to Friday and the candidate must be flexible to work day shifts (6:00am – 2:30pm) and afternoon shifts (3:30pm - 12:00am). Overtime work may be available.
