Superior EMS-FIRE is currently seeking motivated individuals in our event Fire/Rescue Division. Our fire/rescue officers respond to and manage emergency incidents at community events, as well as support the Event EMS crews in the provision of patient care. The event Fire/Rescue division provides services at many different events and provides a range of services to ensure rapid fire suppression, and rescue operations are available at the events we cover.
Superior EMS-FIRE provides services at a wide variety of events including sporting, fairs and festivals, concerts, government events, motorsports and races, charity events, film sets and mass casualty emergencies.
Our event fire/rescue officers also support our patient transfer services. Our transfer service provides non-emergent stretcher-based transport services in the Algoma region, including hospital transfers, and private air-ambulance ground transport.
This position is great for recent graduates or individuals currently completing fire related education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responding to, and managing fires at the events we are contracted for until municipal fire services arrival;
- Responding to, and assisting medical staff in the stabilization, extrication and provision of care for injured individuals in motor vehicles;
- Assisting medical staff as required at events we are contracted for;
- Responding to mutual aide requests from allied agencies including emergency management responses.
Application Criteria
- NFPA Fire I and II or able to obtain by first shift (or be registered in a fire program).
- NFPA 472 Hazmat Operations
- Standard First Aid with Basic Life Support CPR & AED (EMR Level Preferred)
- Experience operating hydraulic rescue tools an asset
- Decision making capability, both when working alone or working as part of a team
- Ability to work alone of as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to giving high quality care
- Able to effectively communicate with others, while respecting confidentiality
- Able to produce timely, accurate, and legible records relating to patient care
- Ability and willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the role
- Experience working with iPads, and computer technology an asset
- Drivers Abstract with a minimum class “G” license and less than 3 demerit points
- Criminal Records Check satisfactory to the Private Security and Investigative Services Act (2005) upon hire.
- Successful completion of the physical demands testing
- Willingness to obtain additional medical training to support our EMS division.
