This is a full-time Millwright role at Maritime Pressure Works Limited. The Millwright will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing machine labor for equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and/or general industry, including but not limited to pumps, valves, winches, and gearboxes. Have an excellent work ethic with a focus on production. We have current openings in Halifax NS. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:
- Demonstrate layout proficiency
- Disassembles various types of equipment and machinery
- Proficient at setting up and operation of mechanical shop equipment
- Perform overhaul, maintenance, and testing of pumps, valves, condensers, and winches
- Set up and operate portable tools; proper care for and safely use hand and power tools
- Perform all other duties as assigned based on operational requirements.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing various mechanical equipment, including pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, and mixers.
- Experience installing below-deck auxiliaries, such as evaporators, heaters, pumps, condensers, and connecting them to the proper equipment.
- Experience in the removal, repair, and modification or overhaul of various types of marine shipboard equipment and systems such as valves, pumps, hydraulics, turbines, reduction gears, generators
- Experience reading and understanding blueprints, sketches, and templates.
- Familiar with industry codes and regulations.
- Safe use of all tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work with project team on Preventative Maintenance tasks along with any required emergency activities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- All types of physical movement are required for this position to successfully perform the essential functions.
- Ability to use upper and lower extremities.
- Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold.
- Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders, scaffolds, through small accesses, enter inside of tanks, and confined spaces, through hatches, and manholes.
- Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work over bodies of water.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain, including loose pack gravel.
- Candidate will be required to possess a Personnel Security Clearance
Pay: $30.00-$46.00 per hour
