Description:
Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Journeyman Commercial Truck and Transport Mechanic working from our Fort McMurray area of operations.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret work orders, service manuals, and technical documentation.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues using visual inspections, operator input, test driving, and diagnostic tools.
- Complete repairs or replace defective parts, components, or systems as required.
- Test and inspect vehicles to ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and government regulations.
- Communicate additional repair requirements to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and complete maintenance and service records.
- Assist with the training and mentorship of apprentices and other technicians as required.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck and Transport Mechanic (Red Seal) preferred.
- 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentices with relevant commercial truck and transport maintenance experience.
- Experience in the medium and/or heavy-duty commercial truck industry.
- Valid driver's license.
- CSO, CSTS/OSSA, or BSO certification.
- Strong technical and product knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage high workloads in fast-paced and demanding environments.
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy while multitasking.
- Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray area and live in remote camps when required.
- Ability to work 20 days on / 10 days off rotational schedule (days and nights) – subject to change.
- Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.
- Provincial Safety Inspection and/or CVIP certification, or experience conducting CVIP inspections, is considered a strong asset.
